Attorney graduated from Universidad del Rosario, bilingual (English-Spanish). With experience in the national and international context in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, foreign exchange and real estate law, as well as in estate planning.

 

She over 10 years of experience in top ranked law firms and in-house at a mining company. She has advised several clients in the incorporation of companies with local and foreign shareholders, as well as in the establishment of branches of foreign companies and in the structuring of investment vehicles. She has conducted due diligence processes over significant real estate projects in Colombia

 

Maria Isabel has practiced and lead due diligence processes, mergers and acquisitions transactions acting as counsel to the deal, the seller and the purchaser, in a vast range of industries and economic sectors, including mergers involving merger control regulations and approvals or clearings before Colombia’s Competition Authority. She has strengths in contract drafting and negotiation. María has participated in applications for registration with Colombia’s Financial Superintendence and procedures and appeals to the Superintendence of Companies. In general, María has advises clients with respect to their daily business operations.

 

Throughout her professional career, Maria Isabel has excelled by being a facilitator for businesses, advocating for her client while ensuring balance between the parties to a transaction. Her clients are usually not attorneys and she always expresses legal issues in very practical and clear terms.

 

Additionally, Maria Isabel is active in academia and participated in the publication of the book “International Agreement”, authored by Antonio Aljure Salame, and she also teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Rosario.
