Attorney graduated from the Universidad de Los Andes, bilingual (English-Spanish), with a diploma on managerial finance from the same university and a graduate degree in financial, banking and capital markets law.

 

He has advised licensed financial entities in regulation compliance and has participated in transactions involving Colombia’s Financial Superintendence such transactions for the acquisition, creation and conversion of financial institutions and the establishment of representative offices for financial and stock market institutions in Colombia.

 

Nicolas has broad experience and has advised clients in structuring and developing private lending operations (both commercial and consumer) under all credit types available in Colombia, as well as in structuring and developing payroll lending operations, in both cases involving the funding transactions. He has also experience with domestic and international corporate finance transactions, through banks or investment funds, or through operations in the stock market. He also has experience in structuring project finance transactions and capital markets transactions.

 

Nicolas has advised domestic and international private equity funds and their management companies in granting credit facilities in Colombia. He has also advised insurance intermediaries in insurance products distribution and with private entities dedicated to insurance premium lending operations.

 

Nicolas has extensive experience addressing each of the steps required for finance and capital markets transactions and is well versed in the relationships and procedures required among parties to these types of transactions, both domestic and international

 

In the energy and natural resources sector, Nicolas has advised corporate conglomerates and power generators and wholesale and retail electricity suppliers. He has experience in the structuring and development of solar and hydroelectric power generation projects involving financing, licensing, procurement, construction and operation. He has advised clients in the acquisition and operation of power plants, the negotiation and execution of power purchase agreements for self-generation and for wholesale market (MEM) disposition. He has also experience in negotiating and executing regulated energy sector agreements and in energy consumers aggregation operations.

 

Nicolas has over 10 years of experience having worked at the Financial Law and Capital Markets Practice area at a top ranked large law firm in Colombia, and as in-house counsel at the Bogota office of an international investment management company, and in a multi-activity power sector company.
